To help protect our customers from fraud and scalping bots, our checkout system blocks purchases made while a VPN is active. If you see a message asking you to disable your VPN, use the instructions below for your device and browser.
A VPN isn’t always a separate app you installed on purpose — it’s often built into antivirus software (like Norton, McAfee, or Avast) or built directly into your web browser (like Opera, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox), and it can turn itself back on automatically. If you’re not sure whether you have one running, work through the sections below for your device and browser to be sure it’s fully off before you try to purchase again.
iPhone / iPad (iOS)
1. Turn off VPN in iOS Settings
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General, then tap VPN & Device Management (on older iOS versions, VPN appears directly in the main Settings list).
- Tap VPN.
- Switch the toggle next to your VPN to off (it should not be green).
If the VPN turns itself back on, tap the info (ⓘ) icon next to it and turn off “Connect On Demand.”
2. Turn off iCloud Private Relay (Safari)
Private Relay is Apple’s built-in privacy feature and works like a VPN for Safari traffic.
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap iCloud.
- Tap Private Relay.
- Turn off the switch next to Private Relay.
3. Chrome, Firefox, or other browsers on iPhone/iPad
These browsers don’t include their own built-in VPN on iOS — any VPN affecting them is coming from the device-level VPN or Private Relay settings above, or from a separate VPN app installed on the phone. Check the Settings app for any VPN apps you may have installed and turn them off there.
Android Devices
1. Turn off VPN in Android Settings
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet (on some phones this is called Connections).
- Tap VPN.
- Tap the active VPN connection, then tap Disconnect.
You can also swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings and tap the VPN notification to disconnect it instantly.
2. Turn off Always-On VPN
If the VPN reconnects on its own, Always-On VPN is likely enabled.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > VPN.
- Tap the gear/settings icon next to your VPN.
- Turn off Always-on VPN.
3. Opera Browser (built-in VPN)
- Open Opera and tap the Opera icon or menu.
- Tap the VPN entry (shown as “O VPN”).
- Turn off the VPN toggle.
Chrome and Firefox on Android don’t include a built-in VPN, so a VPN affecting those browsers is coming from the device settings above or a separate VPN app.
Windows Computer
1. Turn off VPN in Windows Settings
- Open Settings (Windows key + I).
- Click Network & Internet.
- Click VPN.
- Select your VPN connection and click Disconnect.
Disconnecting only ends that connection — if a VPN app (like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, etc.) is installed, also open that app and make sure it shows “Off” or “Disconnected,” and turn off any auto-connect or auto-reconnect setting inside it.
2. Microsoft Edge – Secure Network (built-in VPN)
- Open Edge and click the three-dot menu, then Settings.
- Click Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll to the Security section and find Secure Network.
- Turn off the toggle next to Secure Network.
3. Opera Browser (built-in VPN)
- Click the VPN badge to the left of the address bar (it looks like a small shield or “VPN” label).
- Turn off the toggle switch shown in the pop-up.
4. Firefox (built-in VPN / Mozilla VPN extension)
- Look for the VPN icon on the right side of the address bar.
- Click it and turn protection off, or right-click the icon and choose Remove from Toolbar if it isn’t in use.
- If you have the separate Mozilla VPN app installed, open it and disconnect there as well.
5. Google Chrome
Chrome doesn’t have a built-in VPN. If you’re seeing a VPN warning while using Chrome, check for a VPN browser extension (click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar) or check the antivirus software section below.
6. Antivirus / Security Software VPNs
Many antivirus and security suites include their own VPN that can turn on automatically. Common ones to check:
- Norton Secure VPN – open Norton, go to VPN settings, and turn off “Auto-Connect” (or set it to Custom instead of Always).
- McAfee Safe Connect – open the McAfee app, go to Safe Connect VPN, and turn it off.
- Avast SecureLine / other antivirus VPNs – open the app and disable the VPN or auto-connect feature.
If you’re not sure which security software is installed, check your system tray (bottom-right of the screen) for antivirus icons, or check the Start menu for any app with “VPN” or “Secure” in the name.
Mac Computer
1. Turn off VPN in System Settings
- Click the Apple menu and choose System Settings.
- Click VPN in the sidebar (on older macOS versions, click Network, then choose VPN & Filters).
- Click your VPN connection and toggle it off, or click Disconnect.
If you use a separate VPN app (like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, etc.), also open that app directly and disconnect it there.
2. Safari – iCloud Private Relay
- Click the Apple menu, then System Settings.
- Click your name at the top of the sidebar.
- Click iCloud, then Private Relay.
- Turn off the switch next to Private Relay.
3. Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Firefox on Mac
These browsers work the same way on Mac as on Windows — use the same steps listed in the Windows Computer section above (Edge’s Secure Network toggle, Opera’s VPN badge, or Firefox’s VPN icon in the address bar).
4. Antivirus / Security Software VPNs
As on Windows, security software such as Norton, McAfee, or Avast may include a built-in VPN. Open the app directly and turn off its VPN or auto-connect feature.
